Imphal, January 11 2010:
After playing a goalless tie against ESU, the North Imphal Sports Association (NISA), Thangmeiband with 39 points lead the 4th Manipur State League organised by the All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) under the Vision India Project of Asian Football Confederation (AFC) at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium, Imphal.
While NISA lead the tournament with 39 points, AIM, Khabam Lamkhai was in the second place with 28 points.
TRUGPU, Nambol with 25 points was in the third place.
The first match today was played between SSU, Singjamei and AIM, Khabam Lamkhai.
SSU beat goalless AIM with two goals and won the match.
SSU dominantly played the match right from the beginning giving little chance to for AIM to strike back.
However AIM fought valliantly in the first half of the match.
The first goal of SSU was scored by Gichum Kamson in the 50th minute of the match by heading.
Md Shahidur Rehman scored the second goal in the 83rd minute of the match.
On the other hand no players of AIM could scored a single goal against SSU and lost the match.
Y Sachidananda and M Bijen of SSU were a yellow card each for their unsporting behaviour during the match.
Meanwhile, the second match which was played between NISA, Thangmeiband and ESU, Wangkhei concluded in a goalless tie since no teams could scored a single goal against one another.
Both teams displayed a real tough fight against one another throughout the match.
M Abhiraj, Th Santosh of NISA and RK Ningthing of ESU were issued a yellow card each for their unsporting behaviour during the match.
