Newly elected BJP State unit president Sh Shantikumar has announced the main agenda of the party that would be taken up during his three year tenure.
On the other hand, the Councillor of Imphal Municipal Council Ward No 18 has joined the BJP after resigning from Congress.
Addressing his maiden press meet today, the BJP president said that the current year is organisational year for the party.
During the course of the year, there would be consultation with the party's Kendra committees, Mandals and youth committees of both the hills and valley.
The party would check whether citizens of the State are receiving the rights entitled to them.
2011 would be preparatory year for the Municipal Council elections.
The party would be testing the water for political alliance with like minded parties in addition to making necessary ground works to field its own candidates, he said.
Saying that BJP could not win the last general elections due to many hindrances and impediments, he said that BJP would prepare for the next general elections with brighter prospect as there would be no obstacles this time.
BJP would takes extra efforts to bring a change in the political balance of power in 2012 as the next general election would be held in the same year.
BJP would strike up alliance with like-minded political parties to establish either a BJP led or BJP included Government in Manipur, the new president said.
Alleging that the Congress-led SPF Government has failed to discharge its duties with the required spirit, Shantikumar suggested that the SPF may surrender to the people and seek a fresh mandate.
The dismal power supply, abolition of many schools by Education Department are not good signs.
These are results of the absence of any plan or policy in the SPF Government's agenda.
While, on the one hand maximum recruitments are being made to raise the strength of State forces, a killing spree has been continuing on the other side, he alleged.
Shantikumar further decried the inability of the State Government to find out any clue about those responsible for killing non-local people.
On the other hand, IMC Councillor Salam Santosh-kumar elected from Ward No 18 of Yaiskul Assembly Constituency on Congress ticket joined BJP on January 5 .
Santoshkumar who was also present at the press meet said that he quit Congress because of the party's refusal to give ticket to Hanjabam Jayadeva for the Yaiskul by-poll and his support to independent candidate H Jayadeva during the by-poll.
