THE MAYAI Lambi Sports Organisation (MASO) will be organising the 2nd State Level Men's Open MASO Manipur Marathon, 2009 on February 23 next.
In a press conference held at Manipur Press Club today, President, MASO, Ch Sanajaoba said that MASO was established in the year 2005 and had successfully organised a men's half marathon in 2006.He further said that arrangements for the marathon is almost finished.
Winner will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 20,000 while first runners up and second runners up will be awarded Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
A cash prize of Rs 2,000 each will also be awarded to the position holders from fourth position to tenth position.
He said that the MASO was constituted by various clubs and organisation along the Mayai Lambi from Keishampat to Wabagai Lamkhai.
It is an organisation which was established under the motto 'Unity, Peace and Prosperity'.
He further stated that MASO is targeting to organise a North East Open Marathon in the next few years.
MASO is also planning to organise half marathon for women and cross country tournaments, he added.
Starting from Wabagai Lamkhai and crossing the Sekmaijin bridge, the marathon will go through Mayang Imphal, Wangoi, Samurou, Hiyangthang, Ningthemcha Karong, Heirangoithong, Pishum-thong, Keishamthong and after reaching Keisham- pat it will go along the tiddim road to the south and will come through Haobam Marak Irom Leikai from Kwakeithel and will finish at Pishum Ningom Leirak via Pishumthong.
