STUDY OF history of outside keeping behind that of origin of the land has made distance each other among the people of different ethnic communities living in the state, said the president of the Information Centre for Hill Areas Committee (ICHAM), N Rajendro today.
Rajendro, speaking at the inaugural function of the Phouoibi Shanglen at Keibul Lamjao Makha Leikai said that the people of the state are living dependent on other for the last more than 50 year.
The culture and tradition of the people are also disappearing day by day.
So, in order to save the disappearing indigenous culture, the Shanglen for laiharouba is being constructed.
He said, even though cultures from outside enter to the state, people of the land should not neglect its own culture and keep preserve it.
"We have our origin.
We should study the history of outside after knowing our own history.
It will be wrong to study history of outside without knowing our own," he said.
Meetei should also learn the tribal dialects.
That only will come to know the true structures of the society and strengthen the bond of love, he added.
Now time has gone to remain waiting the funds allotted by the Centre.
The people of the state should try their best to make their own income generating ways by utilizing the funds in a proper places, he said while appealing the people to go hand in hand with ECHAM in the effort to self sustain state.
Social worker Moirangthem Ashwanikumar who presided the function while recollecting the efforts the people of the area tried for the construction of the Shanglen said, it was remained incomplete due to financial problem for the last two years.
But finally it was able to complete with the funds collected among the people.
The living conditions of the people at Keibul Lamjao area are becoming worsened day by day.
There is nothing that can be said better in any fields, he said stating that they would try with their best for upliftment of the area in all fields.
