Manipur wins 11 gold in NE Games Day 2

Imphal, March 21 2012:
On the second day of the ongoing North East Games being held in Mizoram, Manipur won 11 gold, five silver and five bronze medals leading the medal tally at 25 at the end of day 2 .
In wrestling, Manipur won two gold, one silver and three bronze.
Chungrei and Sonia won gold, A Umila won silver while W Jackey, O Ibomcha and T Bidyarani won bronzes.
In Judo, Manipur sweeped five gold and one silver.
Michael, Anand, Surchandra, Tababi and Dhanapiyari won the gold medals while the silver was won by Somorjit.
In athletic, state players failed to made an impression although they got two bronzes which was won by Nanao and Rameshchandra.
In Weightlifting, state lifters lifted four gold and three silvers.
Kh Ananda, L Ibotomba, S Meerabai and N Sumabala won the gold medals while the three silvers were won by L Paikhomba, M Menjor and Thasana.
In the meantime, Manipur Women Hockey team entered into the final after defeating Assam 5-0 in today's semi final match.
Manipur will now fight host Mizoram in the final.
However, men's team failed to make it into the final after they suffered defeat to Assam by 1 against 3 goals.
In Table Tennis also, Manipur was placed in the 3rd position.
In men's football, Manipur entered semi final after defeating goalless Arunachal Pradesh with two goals.
Manipur will fight Mizoram in the semi final tomorrow.
In women's Badminton double, Manipur will face Assam in the semi final.
