Thoubal district crowned champions of State Level Jeet Kune-Do Championship

Thoubal district unit emerged the champions of the 9th State Level Jeet Kune-Do Championship held at Uripok Achom Leikai Basketball court cum Community Hall with a impressive haul of 22 gold , 11 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Bishnupur district team bagged on the other hand managed 10 gold and 4 silver medals to finish championship runners up and Imphal West finished third with 3 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals.
Thoubal district unit earned 10 gold and 2 silver on the 3rd and the last day of the championship to finish the championship on a flying note.
Ch Bolendro of Thoubal district claimed a gold medal in the below 19 years boys' 50-55 years event beating P Manglemjao of Bishnupur district unit in the final.
Thoubal district unit also shone in the full contact event for boys as S Premananda (49 kg and above: 11-13 years), W Raju (49-52 kg: 13 to 14 years) and S Thoinao (60 kg and above: 13 to 14 years) emerged on top to win the gold medals.
The day also saw Bishnupur district earn 6 gold and 2 silver medals.
M Sanatomba bagged a gold medal for the Bishnupur unit in the below 19 years boys' 55-60 kg event after beating Ch Borish of Thoubal district in the final.
RK Rojit also won a gold medal for the same unit beating Kh Ocean of Imphal West in the below 19 years boys' 75-80 kg event after S Kenedy fetched the below 17 years boys 55-58 kg title after beating Imphal West's Samananda Laishram.
Tenison of Bishnupur also won the below 14 years 45-47 years title as he overcame Thoubal district's Jackson in the final.
S Hemba of Imphal West finished third in this event and had to contend with the gold medal.
Ukhrul's J Thotreimung won a gold medal in full contact event for 20 years and above.
The team of AK Omita Devi, S Sanjita and L Linthoi Chanu bagged the gold medal for hand form fight for girls while K Lanchenba Singh secured a gold medal in the boys' hand form fight.
The day also saw L Tushila Devi of Imphal West grab a gold medal in the full contact event for 11-13 years (49 kg and above).
The valedictory function of the tournament organised by Health and Development Organisation Uripok Polem Leikai under the aegis of Jeet Kune-Do Association of Manipur was graced by W Khelendra Singh, Board of Director, Salai Holdings Private Limited; K Radhakumar Singh, IAS, Retd; Dr S Sekharjit Singh, former Director of RIMS; T Tikendrajit, Corporator Ward No 6, IMC; W Manglemba Chenglei, Director, University and Higher Education; A Khamba Singh, Asst Prof Imphal College; AK Sachikumar-advisor, USSAL and S Priyokanta, ex-president, Youth Club Uripok Achom Leikai as dignitaries.
A total of 200 athletes from across 6 district units participated in this three day event.
