Principal remanded to police custody

Pheiroijam Landhoni, founder/ Principal of Standard Robarth Hr Secondary School and Pheiroijam Romita, coordinator were remanded into police custody after they were produced before a Duty Magistrate today.
According to a reliable source, Landhoni and Romita were picked up yesterday night from their residence after the SIT team visited them for interrogation in connection with the mysterious death of Ningthoujam Babysana inside a hostel of Standard Robarth Hr Sec School on July 18 .
It may be mentioned that on August 1, Session Judge Imphal West had rejected and dismissed the anticipatory bail petitions filed by Landhoni and Romita, apart from dismissing the interim order passed by the same Court on July 20 .
The next day, August 2, a team of SIT visited the residence of Landhoni at Canchipur, near Manipur University and the residence of Romita at Kwakeithel Thiyam Leikai but none of them was present at their respective houses and the SIT team was informed that Landhoni had been admitted in a private hospital due to an illness and Romita was also at the said hospital looking after her mother.
Police even visited the hospital where Landhoni was admitted, the source added.
It may also be mentioned that a day after the Session Judge Imphal West rejected their anticipatory bail petitions, Landhoni and Romita had filed anticipatory bail petitions before the High Court of Manipur.
On the other hand, Landhoni's youngest son Pheiroijam Robinson who is also junior administrator of the school, is presently lodged in police custody in connection with the case.
