ESU clinch third straight win; WYC, MUVANLAI earn second win

The Eastern Sporting Union (ESU), Wangkhei Palace Compound claimed a comprehensive 8 wicket win against KASC, Khomidok for the third group stage win to inch towards quarter finals of the ongoing 5th MNCA Plate Tournament 2019-20.The day also saw WYC, Wangkhem earning second win on the trot in their Group C campaign by beating PSC, Khuyathong and MUVANLAI, New Lambulane bouncing back from previous game defeat to beat TCMDC, Thongju for the second win (in Group A competition) in three matches.
In the Group C league match held at Oriental College ground, PSC elected to bat first and piled up 174 losing all the wickets in 37.4 overs out of 40 total.
Kenny smashed a half century (64 off 85 balls) and Homenjit scored 33 in this innings before WYC chased down the target at the cost of 2 wickets in 27.5 overs riding on half centuries by Wangkhem Samungou (51 not out), S Herokumar (50).Sougrakpam Shankar (3/22 in 8 overs), Biteshwor (3 for 32 in 7.4 overs) and Premkumar (3/37 in 6 overs) did well to run riot across the batting line up of the Khuyathong side in the PSC innings earlier while Rajbihari and Bhomendro of PSC claimed a wicket each.
Sangkar who claimed three wickets and added 23 runs for WYC was named man of the match.
Elsewhere in the Group D league match staged at Langthabal Public ground, ESU forced KASC to bundle out for 28 in 10.2 overs and then raced to 30 for 2 in 3.4 overs to etch the massive win.
Chittaranjan of ESU took centre stage in KASC's innings as he enjoyed a five wicket haul offering 17 runs in his spell of 5 overs which was studded with a maiden while Hemchand claimed 4 wickets for 11 runs in 5.2 overs.
Sahir with 12 runs made the most for KASC as 6 lower order batsmen had to leave the crease on ducks.
Nishikanta (5 not out) and Bobby (3) did finish off the chase for ESU after losing Mehul on 4 and Herojit on 1.Chittaranjan of ESU was eventually named man of the match.
Meanwhile in the Group A league match staged at Moijing playground, TCMDC which opted to bat first could post only 83 runs for 10 in 23 overs (35 total) and MUVANLAI cruised to 85 for 5 in 19.4 overs for the 5 wicket win.
Vivekananda (23), Priyobarta (14) and Nganthoi (12) made the double digit scores for TCMDC in their innings in which MUVANLAI bowlers Sanjay (3/20), Khaikhotinlal (3/15) and Avinash (3/7) wreaked havoc to share three wickets each.
Despite Sheiteendra (2/38) and Nganthoi's (2/7) efforts to resist MUVANLAI, Shibadatta (20), Thangtingou (18), Haolengou (19 not out) drove.
MUVANLAI home with ease.
