MPSC down NACO; NISA beat AIM

Imphal, September 12 2014 :
Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC) brushed aside Nambul Mapal Athletic and Cultural Organisation (NACO), Nambul Mapal by a margin of 2 goals to nil while North Imphal Sporting Association (NISA), Thangmeiband edged past Anouba Imagi Mangal (AIM), Khabam by 1-0 in the ongoing 9th Manipur State League organised by All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) under the sponsorship of MLA Khumukcham Joykishan Singh today at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal.
In a keenly contested match, NACO faced stiff challenge from MPSC players who looked intent to win the match following draws in the previous two matches against FCK and KLASA.

MPSC's K Benjamin slammed home the first goal in the 26th minute of the match following a fine pass from Ksh Kanta via a free kick.
Minutes later, Golmei Gaikhamnimpu latched onto a ball and slammed it home following a defence splitting pass from Ksh Kanta to take MPSC to a comfortable position.
After the breather, NACO went on the offensive and raided the citadel of MPSC attempting a couple of shots.
The police defenders however stood firm and rose to the occasion to deny NACO a goal.
The match ended with four yellow cards against MPSC's W Nilakanta Meitei and NACO's K Somen, L Amit and A Binesh.
In the second match of the day, NISA deployed a whole set of new players.
The move paid dividends as the new players dished out an outstanding performance unlike in the two previous matches.
O Nishikanta of NISA scored the all important goal in the 40th minute to beat the rival team by a margin of one goal to nil.
AIM's N Boyboysana, O Pitler Meitei and NISA's K Sanjit were cautioned with yellow cards during the match.
