Nursing Superintendents' workshop held

'One day workshop for nursing superintendents on training of nurses' was held at the College of Nursing, Medical Directorate at Lamphelpat here on Thursday.

Director of Health Services Dr.Karam Lokendro Singh, Prof.Esther Sunwar Roy of Indian Nursing Council and Poornima Sharma of Futures Group Gurgaon attended as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively during the programme sponsored by Indian Nursing Council.
As expressed by Prof..MKumudini, principal of College of Nursing, Medical Directorate, govt.of Manipur, the programme was conducted under the GFATM project which aims at prevention from AIDS, malaria and Tuberculosis.
Launched in 2002, GFATM project based in Geneva in Switzerland is being implemented by Indian Nursing Council and Futures Group in India, she continued while adding that the project is implemented by College of Nursing in Manipur.
The objective of the project is to provide the nest health care service to the patients by making the nursing community aware of AIDS, malaria and TB, she said and added that the important duties of the nursing personnel are 'preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitation' .
Lauding the GFATM being implemented with funding from the World Health Orgn., Dr.Lokendro said the programme would help provide additional skills to the nursing persons regarding the AIDS, TB and malaria.
Prof.Esther Sunwar Roy, Dr.RK Rosy, Dr.Sadhana and Poornima Sharma delivered lectures on various topics during the programme.
