Imphal, February 17 2011:
The weeklong anti-narcotics operation launched by troops of 30 Assam Rifles of 27 Sector AR under Red Shield Division ended on February 16 and covered higher ridges of Thingbunglang in Thinghat sub-division of Churachandpur district, said a PIB (DW) release adding that the campaign was coined as 'Operation Jwala' .
Troops were sent to assess scale of poppy cultivation followed by teams to carry out destruction of plantation areas in a phased manner.
A total of three major poppy fields were destroyed in the operation amounting of 8 acres, the release added.
