Imphal, February 17 2011:
While dismissing reports published in some State dailies with regard to alleged ill-treatment of teachers under COTA as false and unfounded, Central Jail, Sajiwa Superintendent Themthing Ngashangva has clarified that prison inmates at Central Jail are not ill-treated, beaten or forced-fed as reported.
Moreover, there are no prison inmates at Central Jail who is on hunger strike or on fast as such act is gross violation of Jail discipline who are kept under judicial custody under the Jail Manual, the Superintendent maintained.
