A joint meeting of the representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutes (PRIs) of the district held at the office complex of DC of Thoubal District today has unanimously resolved to launch various intense agitation in case the fund of the Panchayat under the State Finance Commission 2007-08 is not released at the earliest possible.
The meeting attended by Pradhan of Tentha Gram Panchayat M Ibomcha, Pradhan of Arong Nongmaikhong Gram Panchayat N Ibomcha, Pradhan of Wangoo Gram Panchayat A Chandra Singh, Padhan of Maibam Uchiwa Gram Panchayat W Premabati and Pradhan of Khekman Gram Panchayat W Mema as presidium members has also adopted various other resolutions.
The resolutions include exerting pressure on the authorities concerned for releasing the pending fund of Thoubal District under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, timely payment and revising of the honorarium of the PRI representatives, inclusion of Pradhans in the screening process of selecting the beneficiaries of Old Age Pension, to take up legal action in case the governing body violated the selection process, selection of only those approved by the Gram Sabha as the beneficiaries under AAY and taking a united stand against any attempt to violate the guidelines of the AAY by MLAs, MPs and other officers.
