Imphal, May 19 2010:
Even after Consumer Club, Manipur and various shop owners of Khwairamband market had fixed rates of different essential commodities in a joint meeting held at Dharmashala on May 10, the club received around 50 complaints regarding price hike.
Acting on these complaints, the club summoned the concerned shop owners and asked to refund the excess amount to respective consumers.
The shop owners were also penalised with compensation amounting upto Rs 1000, said a press release.
The club also urged the shop owners not to hike price taking advantage of the NH blockades.
