Eema Leipak Thougal Lup Khwai Ema Keithel (ETHOULUP), Nagamapal and Women Street Vendor Association, Nagamapal organised a one-day special meeting on problems being faced by the street vendors in and around Imphal city at GM Hall today.
The meeting demanded the State Government to issue vendor licence to 510 vendor women of western side of Nagamapal and Punshi Keithel.
Addressing the function as chief guest, Women's United Development Organisation Manipur President L Phajabi exhorted the street vendors to unitedly press the State Government to issue license who are still in the vendor area since past 20 years.
Speaking in the meeting as guest of honour, Worker Union Manipur General Secretary L Joy Khuman informed the gathering that street vendors play significant roles in the overall business of a city even in economically advanced countries like USA and China.
So the Imphal street vendors must press the demand to the Government, he added.
