Imphal, May 19 2010: Seven political parties operating in the state of Manipur today lashed out at the Government of Nagaland calling it as a "frontal outfit of NSCN (IM)" while also demanding immediate resignation of P Chidambaram as Union Home Minister.

The parities, namely, MPP, NCP, CPI(M), RSP, Forward Block, MSCP and JD (S) also pressed for summon of a special session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly to discuss the "critical" situation of the state owing to the complete blockade on NH-39 and NH-53 .

Leaders of the seven political parties MPP, NCP, CPI(M), RSP, Forward Block, MSCP and JD (S) gathered at the MPP's office today where they convened a joint meeting under the chair of the opposition leader and former chief minister of Manipur, Radhabinod Koijam, the president of NCP, Manipur Pradesh.

The meeting discussed a wide spectrum of issues relating to the critical situation obtaining presently in the state and took unanimously demand resignations of the P Chidambaram as Union Home Minister immediately and summoned special session of the state Assembly session to discuss the situation of the state where lifelines of the people of the state have been cut-off totally for more than among others.

It also while observing that Nagaland government is acting as a frontal outfit of NSCN(IM) and interfering to the internal affairs of another federal state, cautioned to desist from such activities forthwith, said the leaders attending a briefing to the media after the join meeting over.

They said that the meeting discussed the "unconstitutional roles of Nagaland government" thoroughly and observed that the present Nagaland government has often been acting as a frontal outfit of NSCN(IM) and has been acting extra-constitutionally by interfering in the internal affairs of another state.

"We strongly condemn the extra-constitutional activities of the present Nagaland government and warn it to desist from such activities forthwith," O Joy of MPP while reading out the resolution drafted in the meeting stated.

The issue ahead of the state like acute artificial food scarcity and other essential items was prominently discussed in the meeting which stated from 9 am and went on till 11 am, Joy said.

"The blockade is orchestrated by the UNC, the frontal organisation of NSCN (IM) with some Naga students' organisations and some Naga civil groups," the political parties considered, he said.

The blockade of national highways 39 and 53 was called by ANSAM and some other Naga organisations against the holding of election of Autonomous District Council of Manipur without at tending the present Manipur (Hills) District Council Act, 2008, he alleged.

The problem arising out of the economic blockade was compounded by the announcement of Thuingaleng Muivah, general secretary of NSCN(IM) of his plan to visit his native village, Somdal in Ukhrul on May 3 and visiting some other places in Ukhrul, Senapati districts and addressing public rallies.

The Central government which is in favour of his visit built up a sorts of pressure on the Manipur Chief Minister, O Ibobi Singh who stood his ground firm.

"The Cabinet decision to prevent Muivah from entering the state was supported by all political parties and civil societies and students' organisations of Manipur," Joy claimed.

Political parties support to prevent entry of Muivah into Manipur and strongly condemned the Central government, particularly the Home Minister for granting permission to Muivah to visit Manipur without the consent of the state government, he said.

"The meeting reiterates the decision taken by a joint meeting of the five political parties on May 5 last that Muivah should not be allowed to enter the territory of Manipur as he is a person who has persistently been campaigning to disintegrate Manipur to form his Nagalim and further as a person responsible for the commission of many heinous crimes to further his expansionist policy and reaffirm it," he said.

The public of Manipur has taken a strong exception to the equivocal role of the government of India, particularly of the home ministry.

It appears that it is out of appeased of Th Muivah against the interest of Manipur and is purposely turning its "Nelson's Eye" to what is happening in the state.

It appears to the government of India, Manipur is dispensable if it serves its purpose.

The present situation is the creation of the government of India, particularly the home minister, P Chidambaram, who gave permission to Muivah without the consent of the state government, he went on to observe.

Former Chief Minister and president of the NCP, Radhabinod supplementing to the briefing given by O Joy Singh said that the meeting discuss all facts and backgrounds behind root cause of the critical situation and resolved unanimously to demand resignation of P Chidambaram as Union Home Minister on moral ground.

"He should be immediately resigned as home minister," Radhabinod demanded.

Protection and control of national highways wherever they may pass through, is responsible for the government of India.

Any crime committed on the national highways has to be dealt with by the Centre.

To airlift some urgently needed items is a stop-gap arrangement.

So, the Centre should immediately take up step to ensure save passage of goods freight trucks arriving Imphal, he observed urging the Centre to develop the NH-53 on war footing.
