The 7th Manipur State Art Exposition 2009 which would be slated for four day opened today at Manipur State Art Gallery, Palace Compound today.
Lalit Kala Akademy winner Th Tombi graced the opening function of the exposition presided over by Dr RK Nimai, commissioner (Arts and Culture) .
In the art exposition, 30 paintings and 14 sculpture eight graphics of 38 artistes are displaying.
State Kala Akademy awarded one each artists of painting, sculpture and graphic selected as best productions.
Artiste L Jiten won the best painting award in his work "Urum", the best sculpture award went to Maibam Priti on her ceramic sculpture work "Good to my passion" while best graphic award went to M Samson for his work "Dry point".
Speaking as chief guest Th Tombi termed the exposition as a perfect one exploring the participation of four female artists including one award winner.
He observed artists works of the state trying to explore the situation of the state to the national and international arena.
It showed that imagination is coming to the artists of the state.
It will not be a right one to keep away these artists when they imaginations start expressing through their works.
Dr RK Nimai who presided over the function expressed his happiness on seeing the works of the state artists observing changes in the creativity in their works.
State has unique art forms.
But arrangements for the exposition of their works are less.
There is the need for keeping a room for them in the society, he asserted.
