The Headquarters of the IGAR (South) will complete 4 years in service tomorrow.
The Hqs was opened on March 15 in 2004 and altogether 4 Sector Hqs and 21 Bns come under the Hqs IGAR (S), said a statement issued by its PRO today.
During the last four years, the Hqs was able to achieve a number of successes the clearance of militants from the Khenjoi range during Ops Samtal.
Recognising the efforts and achievements of the Hqs, the Govt has conferred all its units 157 awards for officers, 79 JCOs, 235 ORs and nine civilian staff including two AVSM, three VSM, One KC, three SC, 60 SM (G), two SM (D) Bar, 80 COAS CC, 40 GOC-in-C CC, eight Mention in Despatches, 63 police medal, 120 Governor Gold Medals, 76 Governor Silver Medals and 32 DGAR CC, said the PRO.
Speaking at the occasion, IG AR (S) Maj Gen BK Chengappa exhorted the officers and troops to contribute towards the betterment of the people of the State, said the statement further.
