Moirang police personnel have recovered a body found floating in Loktak Lake near Khamenpokpi hill-lock located north of Karang island.
The body fished out this morning has been subsequently deposited at RIMS mortuary for identification and medical procedures.
According to police source one .32 calibre pistol with seven rounds have been found from the body that bears bullet wound at the abdomen area.
Thanga-Karang residents are informed to have reported finding the body clad in jean trouser and red T-shirt floating on the water.
Mention may be made that security forces had some days back launched a major anti-insurgency operation in Thanga-Karang areas and claimed of inflicting casualties upon militant activists.
Mishap: The driver of a kerosene oil tanker died when the vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a road side ditch near Makhan under Mao police station on NH-39 today at about 12.30 pm.
