Imphal, August 27:
Manipur Loumi Lup has demanded compensation for the Loktak Project affected farmers.
In a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister, Lup general secretary M Ritichandra Singh pointed out that more than 50,000 hectares of paddy fields have been submerged under water due to construction of Ithai Dam for Loktak Hydro-Electric Project and the farmers whose paddy fields have been affected are living a miserable life as there is no other alternative source of income for them.
