Imphal, August 27:
Continuing with its Govt bashing exercise in the face of the MLAs steadfast refusal to resign even after the deadline has expired, the Working Committee of the Apunba Lup today said that there will surely come a time when the so called people's representatives will be taught a fitting lesson.
Even today, there is no let up in the people's demand to revoke the AFSPA from Manipur, said the Lup In a statement and added that today students have come out on the streets to surrender their text books as pursuing their academic career under such a draconian law is not desirable.
However despite the protest taken out by the young students, the Govt has decided to turn a blind eye to the demands of the people, said the Lup and added that declaring holidays to stop the students from coming out will not work.
If needed, the students will come out from their homes and stage their protests.
Taking pot shots at Dr Nara for stating that they will not step down as they have not been asked to do so by their electorates, the Apunba Lup, such statement is akin to adding fuel to fire and warned that Dr Nara may just become the first target of the people's angst.
Despite numerous reminders, the Assam Rifles men responsible for killing Th Manorama are yet to appear before the Upendra Commission said the Lup adding that this shows that the Centre and the State Govt are hell bent on subverting justice.
Accusing the Chief Minister of unleashing a fascist regime, the Lup said the use of force, the detention of protestors under the NSA, the merciless crackdown on students of MU in front of the Raj Bhawan, the excesses of the police in dispersing protestors at Lamlai and Churachandpur and forcing the people of Kwakeithel to clean the streets are ample testimony of the fact, the Government is hell bent on using brute force to quell the people's movement.
