Imphal, March 25 2010:
Strong wind swept across the fields at Heikrujam, Kamong, Sajirok and Moidangpok area in Imphal west destroyed mustard crop ready to harvest shattering hopes of bumper harvest in this season.
The strong wind swept across the field in the evening of March 22 last.
Hacked mustard plants of the farmers for harvesting were scattered in no direction by the suddently erupted strong wind, farmers said.
The incident has shattered the hope of the farmers who estimated to harvest at least 800 kg per sangam (one fourth of an acre) of field.
The total field affected by the strong wind is around 30 acres, they said.
