Health Minister Pheiroijam Parijat has claimed that JNIMS is the first medical institute in the whole North East region to have three sterilised operation theatres.
He further claimed that all necessary infrastructure which earlier were lacking in JNIMS have been installed.
Speaking to some media persons today, Parijat said the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) has earned the distinction of having three sterilised operation theatres for the first time in the whole
North East.
The three operation theatres were built at the cost of Rs 2.5 crores.
Three other similar operation theatres would be built next year, he said.
Moreover, necessary infrastructure which were earlier lacking in the 300-bedded medical institute have been installed as per suggestions of the Medical Council of India (MCI).
If something is still missing, it would be minor matters, the Health Minister said.
Noting that the MCI team currently at Imphal have begun taking stock of the infrastructure available at JNIMS, Parijat confided that the MCI team would make favourable recommendations.
On being asked whether JNIMS can commence its maiden session this year, Parijat replied in the positive with confidence.
He claimed that necessary infrastructure have been constructed together with appointment of all the required faculty members.
MRI facility will be made available at JNIMS from next year, he added.
Notably, the medical institute would have 100 seats.
Out of this, 10 to 15 per cent would be reserved as central pool.
