Senapati, August 21 2014:
The Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) on Thursday extended a goodwill gesture to students from Assam, Nagaland, Tripura, Arunachal and others who came for the Inter-State Youth Festival by providing food and water at Senapati District Hqs.
SDSA President, Dominic Azuna along with his colleagues in their interaction to the students appealed them to carry the message of the present students' issue where the tribal students in Manipur are suffering a step-motherly and biased treatment under the dominating community.
Dominic in a strong message stated that tribal students cannot be punished or victimized for what is granted by the Indian Constitution and Central Government.
"We are not demanding what is given to others but we are demanding our own right and benefits bestowed by the Central Government and the Constitution", he said.
The spirit of tribal students will not be suppressed under the 'repressive' policies of the Manipur University and the State Government, he added.
Later, the students were escorted safely towards the State capital by Senapati Police led by SDPO, Pfokrehe Mao.
