Imphal, October 23:
President of Federal party of Manipur (FPM) Dr Leishangthem Chandramani Singh is likely to serve the party as president for the second successive term.
On the last day of filing of nomination paper for the election of party office bearers today Dr Chandramani is the only candidate who entered the fray for the top party post.
His name was proposed by FPM Legislature Party leader M Nillachandra and MLAs Thangminlien Kipgen and Samuel Jendai to contest the president's post for the 2004-07 term.
For the five posts of vice president of the regional political party only four persons are said to have submitted their nomination papers to the State Returning Officer.
The four are former Minister Prof Gangmumei Kamei, P Achou, M Kumar and Henry Paote of whom Gangmumei and Paote currently hold the same post.
As no other candidate had filed nomination papers on the last day today, election of the two other new entrants as vice presidents can also be assumed as mere formality unless last minute complications arise.
only MLA L Tomba filed for the post of FPMs treasurer and can also be considered as elected unopposed.
Ex-MLA M Kunjo had held the post in the last term.
