The fate of the students of Government Dance College under Art and Culture department are kept hanging.
The college is not affiliated to the Manipur University and the certificate issued are not valid as the examinations are conducted by the college itself.
There is no ordinance, common syllabus of the college.
In 2001 last post graduate classes were opened in the college however the same was removed although the subjects are studied for four years said a press hand out issued by the Federation of Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural students (FIMACS), Manipur.
The Principal, teachers of the University should touch the RR of UGC and should have common syllabus.
Only then the certificates issued would have some value it said.
Some teachers of the college misinform the students.
They have been asked to present programmes in some functions not related to the college activities.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between the college and students on 17 January 2002 last.
It was agreed to remove the Principal, to institute an enquiry against him, to have Lai Haraoba, Ras classes for PG students, appointment of five vacant posts.
PG classes were opened after the MoU was signed but the authority did not conduct examinations and the classes were cancelled the hand out said.
The then Joint Director, art and culture Kh Sorojini who is now the Director who was a signatory to the MoU told FIMACS representatives that there is no such MoU the hand out said.
A single person is doing the work of clerk, peon, cashier and Principal.
No identity cards are issued it said.
The programmes meant for the students of the colleges have been given to the other colleges and the teachers freely choose the students to take part in any programme the hand out said.
It alleged that the teachers collect money from other organizations to present cultural programmes.
There is no proper foundation course, admission policy, prospectus it charged.
Gold medals are awarded to favored students.
The college has no instruments, equipments it charged.
The aim of FIMACS is to preserve age old art and culture of Manipur it said.
It is ready to face the problems faced by the 50 years old Government dance college it said.
The authority should pay attention to the college and should communicate with the Manipur University.
