Even though several private building/shop owners have begun shifting their wares in view of the proposed eviction drive at Palace Compound areas the All Manipur Women�s social Reformation and development Samaj said it will strive to preserve its present location at all cost.
Talking to reporters at its Palace Compound office premise today evening, president of the women body Th Ramani said the site is reserved for women folks of Manipur since decades back.
All previous Governments have endorsed the significance of preserving the site taking into account the purpose served by the organization.
However, the eviction notice (October 23) served by the State authorities of launching the drive within 48 hours of the notice covers the .128 acre plot occupied by the Samaj office, she said while reiterating that its members are ready to oppose the move of the SPF Government and threatened the members are willing to sacrifice their lives on the matter.
Ramani also said memoranda have been submitted to the AICC President Sonia Gandhi and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh against carrying out the eviction drive.
With the eviction deadline fast approaching private building and shop owners have begun to shift belongings till late evening today.
Eviction memo: A memorandum has been submitted to the CM O Ibobi today on behalf of affected families in yesterday�s early morning eviction drive carried out by state authorities at near the Manipur University gate.
The memorandum submitted by JAC Against the Eviction of Sorokhaibam Amuba�s House highlighted to the CM that the eviction was forcibly carried out as no prior notice was served to the 72 year old house owner - Sorokhaibam Amuba Singh.
The representation also mentioned house hold properties including valuable items laying scattered and the family consisting of 17 members rendered homeless.
