PRJA releases manifesto

The Peoples Resurgence and Justice Alliance (PRJA) which is fielding three candidates in the ensuing Assembly election released their election manifesto at Manipur Press Club here today.
Releasing the party's election manifesto, PRJA convenor Erendro Laichonbam said that the party's victory or defeat depends on the people.
The 10-point election manifesto promises to repeal AFSPA from Manipur.
Establishment of Lokayukta and Anti-Corruption Bureau consisting of CBI, Civil Police, Members of Lokpal and Lokayukta, redrafting the three ILP Bills to ensure their safe passage keeping in consideration rights of all stake holders are some other points of the manifesto.
Other points of the election manifesto include reservation of 33 per cent seats for women in all elected offices including the State Legislative Assembly, development of small scale industries to make Manipur economically self-reliant, clean water supply for all, rebuilding high quality public infrastructure including roads and bridges, strict monitoring of public services viz; education, health care and all Government schemes, re-location of all military camps located within 10 Kms radius of residential areas, market places, educational compounds and cultural heritage sites and establishment of wakhatpham, a protest site to ensure bandh-free education.
Erendro said that they came forward to contest the election as they were driven by a conviction to repeal AFSPA from Manipur.
He also expressed keen desire to do away with the VIP culture which is prevalent across the State.
Taking strong exception to the plan that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should address an election rally at Kangla, Erendro maintained that politics should not be allowed to encroach upon the sanctity of Kangla.
Irom Sharmila said that she is contesting the election in Thoubal AC because she wants to know whether the people of Thoubal AC really want to get rid of AFSPA or not.
"I'm contesting against the Chief Minister in his home constituency because I was hurt so much by the Chief Minister's failure to repeal AFSPA from Manipur completely despite ruling the State for 15 consecutive years", Sharmila said.
All three PRJA candidates namely Erendro Leichonbam, Irom Chanu Sharmila and Najima Phundreimayum today signed affidavits before an oath commissioner at Uripok Cheirap Court declaring that details about utilization of MLA Local Area Development Funds and all their activities would be uploaded in websites, and they would resign from the State Assembly if they fail to abide by the affidavits.
