Imphal, February 23 2017:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president TN Haokip has categorically stated that they would win 40 seats at the minimum this time too and form the next State Government.
Speaking to media persons at Congress Bhavan here today, TN Haokip informed that All India Congress Committee (AICC) vice-president Rahul Gandhi would address an election rally at Hapta Kangjeibung at 2 pm of February 28 .
The party's election manifesto, its achievements and experiences gathered during the past 15 years would be deliberated at the rally, TN Haokip said.
BJP's Vision Document 2017 is not a legal or binding document.
It is a dubious document designed to bluff the masses, he remarked.
After deceiving the people of Assam, BJP has been trying to bluff the people of Manipur.
But Manipur and Assam are different and BJP will realise after the election.
On the other hand, Congress party has placed its election manifesto as well as the Congress Government's achievements of the past 15 years before the people.
To urge the Central Government to enact a constitutional safeguard in order to protect the integrity of Manipur and its territorial boundary has been listed foremost in the party's manifesto, said the MPCC president.
Taking a dig at BJP's promise to provide a job to each household and provide piped water to all the people, TN Haokip asked whether BJP has done any research on the matter.
Imphal alone faces potable water shortage of 20,000 to 30,000 million litres in a day.
Replacement of the old water pipes laid underground in Imphal area would cost Rs 1400 crore.
When there was public uproar against passage of three Bills for protection of indigenous people, the Central Government tried to impose President's Rule in the State.
They also tried to drag away as many Congress MLAs as possible.
So far seven Congress MLAs have quit the party and joined other parties including BJP.
At the same time, six MLAs of other political parties came within the fold of Congress party, TN Haokip said.
He said that BJP and NSCN-IM are two sides of a coin.
But their efforts to impose President's Rule by directing UNC to impose indefinite economic blockade has not yielded the desired result.
If BJP is sincere enough, they should disclose the contents of the framework agreement, TN Haokip said.
He then appealed to all the people of Manipur to stay away from BJP and vote for Congress in order to save Manipur.
