Imphal, March 18 2016 :
The written test succesful candidates of Manipur Police Constable (Male/Civil) recruitment examination are set to press the Government to resume the recruitment/interview process.
In this regard, the candidates will conduct a meeting at Mapal Kangjeibung on March 21 .
Speaking to reporters at Manipur Press Club, JAC Written Passed Candidates Manipur Police Constable Male, 2013 executive member Khundrakpam Inaoba said that Manipur Police Department issued the advertisement for recruitment of 2000 police Constables (Male/Civil) in 2013 .
After conducting necessary physical and written tests, 10,287 candidates were declared eligible for the interview on September 13, 2015, he said.
Inaoba further said that interviews for the candidates of all the districts except Imphal West and Thoubal were conducted as per the schedules notified in October 2015 .
However, the recruitment process was halted by an order of the Manipur Police Department after some persons filed a PIL at the High Court of Manipur, he said.
According to the PIL, the ratio of the number of candidates corresponding to the number of vacant posts must be 1:3 .
However, Police Department selected candidates for the interview at the ratio of 1:6, the PIL alleged.
Although, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who also holds Home portfolio, had said in the State Assembly that the committee constituted to probe the matter had submitted its report to the Government, no step has been taken up to resume the recruitment/interview process till date.
Executive members of the JAC from all the nine districts of the State held a meeting regarding the matter today.
In the meeting, the JAC decided to initiate different forms of intense agitations if the Government fails to take up positive steps in favour of the written test succesful candidates at the earliest.
The JAC would also hold a meeting of all the written test succesful candidates at Mapal Kangjeibung on March 21, he said.
