Imphal, March 18 2016 :
Demanding prompt disposal of the case pertaining to the killings of Th Rabina and Ch Sanjit and exemplary punishment of the culprits, a protest demonstration was staged today at Sega Road, Keishampat Leimajam Leikai community hall under the aegis of the Working Committee of the Apunba Lup.
Speaking at the gathering, Apunba Lup coordinator Phulindro Konsam said that justice has not been done till date in connection with the killings of Sanjit and Rabina on July 23, 2009 .
Earlier, people believed that there would be a thorough enquiry and fair judgement but today all the people's faiths have been lost.
It is on record that army, paramilitary forces and police have killed many innocent people in the name of counter insurgency operations.
The killing of Sanjit and Rabina was a pure case of fake encounter as proven by the damning sequence of photographs published by Tehelka magazine, Phulindro recounted.
In addition, Head Constable Th Herojit has confessed before media and Court through affidavit that he shot dead Sanjit in cold blood.
CBI too has assured that they would re-investigate the killing of Sanjit and Rabina in the aftermath of Herojit's confession.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh gave a similar assurance but there is no sign so far of translating these assurances into action, Phulindro rued.
CBI, Government and the judiciary should ensure that the case is disposed at the earliest and all the culprits are awarded exemplary punishment.
He asserted that justice delayed is justice denied.
He added that the Apunba Lup would mobilize people for fresh agitation until justice is delivered.
Leaders of many other civil society organisations also spoke at the gathering.
