Murder of Tousem SDPO Accused remanded till April 1

The woman who has been accused of murdering Tousem SDPO Nehemiah Jajo Chodang has been remanded to judicial custody till April 1 .
A large number of womenfolk and JAC members raised slogans demanding befitting punishment of the woman at Lamphelpat Court complex today.
Since morning, a large number of womenfolk and JAC members gathered at the Court complex after getting information of the Court hearing.
The accused has been identified as Nahamem alias Sanamem Golmei (35).It is said that the accused is a relative of the deceased.
Although, the accused was supposed to appear before CJM Imphal West Judge, she was produced before JMIC Imphal West-1 as the former was on leave today.
Sanamem was brought to the Court complex under heavy security of Lamphel police station led by SDPO RK Saklemba, who is also the Investigating Officer of the case.
The Public Prosecutor told the Court that Nehemiah Jajo Chodang (58) s/o Khaprang Chadong was found dead in a suspicious manner at his Nagaram D Block residence on March 2 .
He further said that police have collected finger prints with the help of forensic experts from the crime scene after taking permission from the superior officers and checking the CRD records of the victim.
The accused woman was arrested from her Phubala Makha Mamang Leikai residence on March 6.She is the cousin sister of the victim's second wife who originally hails from Tharon Thangmeiband.
After the death of her first husband, the accused married a Rifleman of 2nd IRB, and she is presently staying with her second husband at Phubala Makha Mamang Leikai.
The Public Prosecutor also told the Court that as per the statement of the accused, she regularly went to the house of Nehemia.
The Public Prosecutor also said that the accused had confessed to the police in front of two independent witnesses that on February 25, she along with her three-year-old child went to the residence of the victim at Nagaram D Block and stayed the night there.
The Public Prosector also told the Court that the accused alleged that she was sexually assaulted by the Nehemiah after having a drink.
As such, she hit the victim with a hard object on his head when he was taking rest on a sofa.
She stayed the whole night at the house after committing the crime and came to her second husband's house at Phubala Makha Mamang Leikai along with some valuable items including mobile phone and money and ATM card in the morning.
It may mentioned that the mobile phone and ATM card of the deceased were found missing when his body was recovered.
Police have recovered the weapon used by the accused in committing the crime.
