I-Day greetings

The Governor of Manipur Dr Ashwani Kumar has extended his heartiest greetings and best wishes to all the people of Manipur on the occasion of Independence Day 2013 .
In a statement the Governor said, every year since 1947 Independence Day has been celebrated on August 15 paying homage to the leaders who sacrificed everything for getting us freedom.
During the last 66 years of independence, India has made tremendous progress in all fields.
However, in the area of social justice, there is still lots to be done.
The technological strides made must ensure that none of the citizens are left hungry or illiterate.
Manipur as one of the important States must contribute towards Nation building and bringing about emotional integrity, it added.
It also stated that on this day of National rejoicing, "let us stand united in offering our homage to our freedom fighters and renew our pledge to utilize our natural and human resources to usher in a new economic order with a view to provide opportunities to our younger generation" .
Th Lokeshwar Singh, Speaker Manipur Legislative Assembly has also greeted the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Independence Day on August 15 .
In a statement, the Speaker urged the people to collectively work for peace, prosperity, communal harmony and literacy for the State.
Major General Rajeev Chopra, IG AR (South) and All Ranks of Assam Rifles have extended warm greetings and best wishes to all the people of Manipur on the occasion of Independence Day - 2013 .
In a press release, IGAR (S) also sent its earnest message of peace, harmony, unity and understanding on this joyous occasion and exhorted all sections of the society to unitedly stand together in paying homage to our freedom fighters and work together for the peace and progress of the State.
