Ghar Ghar Niranjan campaign launched at Ukhrul

All Manipur Gurkha Students' Union (AMGSU), Ukhrul unit while celebrating 53rd AMGSU foundation day, launched Ghar Ghar Niranjan campaign, particularly for Gurkha community residing in the State.
Ghar Ghar Niranjan is a programme initiated by Gurkha Students' Union of Manipur to disseminate the sacrifices made by Shaheed Subedar Niranjan Chhetry for the cause of the Nation and to know more about him.
Kumar Thapa, president of Ukhrul Gurkha Samaj expounded on the purpose of launching the campaign programme in all the settlement areas of Gurkha community in Manipur.
The president enlightened the youngsters about the history of Shaheed Subedar Niranjan Chhetry.
He said that Niranjan was hanged at the Western gate of Kangla on 8th June 1891 for opposing the British.
According to reports of the students union, AMGSU will also organise friendly football matches in all its units rotationally as a part of Ghar Ghar Niranjan campaign.
During the celebration, AMGSU Ukhrul unit felicitated nine students who have passed class X & XII examinations conducted by BoSEM and COHSEM, this year.
Kumar Thapa president of Gurkha Samaj and Bhishma Uprety were the chief guest and guest of honour of the function.
The programme was organised by All Manipur Gurkha Students' Union, Ukhrul at Durga Mandir Wino Bazar, Ukhrul.
