The All Tribal Students� Union, Manipur assessed landslide hit areas of Mao and Keithelmanbi to get the first hand accounts.
The student body touring the areas expressed deep concern over the way the Manipur government is handling the situation in landslide areas at Mao gate and Keithelmanbi�s Gopibung village and its adjoining areas.
The ATSUM statement said that the student body along with All Naga Students� Association, Manipur (ANSAM) and the Kuki Students� Organisation (KSO) had gone to Mao and Keithelmanbi area for a two day survey on July 22 and 23 to get the first hand information of the situation.
After its minute survey the student� body said that situation in the landslide areas in Senapati district is very serious.
It said that appropriate rehabilitation measures must be carried out by the State Government saying that only giving some rice and vegetables would not solve multiple problems of the landslides affected victims as they are only emergency arrangements.

Condemning the leaders of various political parties for not fulfilling their pre poll assurances with regards to lifting of AFSPA from the State, DESAM president L Romesh said that killings of innocent civilians by security personnel have become rampant and sufferings of the people have increased manifold since the imposition of AFSPA in the State twenty four years back.
He also lamented that AFSPA which is supposed to be reviewed after every five months has not been reviewed for many years in Manipur.
