Imphal, February 17 2018:
Acknowledging the potential of real estate projects in Manipur, the State Government has started taking up necessary steps to streamline the processes involved in real estate business and proceedings.
According to information received by The Sangai Express from an official source, the State Government is examining steps to implement a system of single window clearance for real estate projects to be taken up in the State.
The official said that the State Government is considering to designate Manipur Infrastructure Development Agency (MIDA) as single window clearance nodal agency for the real estate projects that are proposed to be taken up in the State and added that the State Planning Department has called for feedbacks from other Departments concerned regarding the said matter.
MIDA will not single handedly monitor the single window clearance system and for this purpose, several other line Departments will work in a sort of Inter Departmental Committee, the source added.
The single window clearance system is necessary in order to ensure timely completion and delivery of projects and it will also enable the real estate developers and builders to submit all necessary Government clearance documents at a single location or to a single authority as well as obtain all necessary Government clearances.
Pointing out that real estate developers of the State have approached the State Government to implement single window clearance system in the past, the source informed that the system will ensure transparency of real estate projects, increase efficiency, decrease costs and time taken.
As such the State Government is giving extra emphasis/priority to implementing single window clearance system in the State, the source added.
It may be mentioned that MIDA not only handles various infrastructure projects in the State, but is also the work agency behind the developmental works taken up by the Tourism Department, Youth Affairs and Sports, Art and Culture and Information Technology etc.
