Imphal, May 14 2009:
With the fury of last night's wind storm leaving its destructive marks on the KV 132 and KV 33 transmission lines and poles of the Electricity Department, normal power supply in most part of the State is likely to remain affected for some days.
Talking to The Sangai Express in this connection, Superintending Engineer (SE), Transmission Circle informed that Executive Engineers, AEs and SOs of the Department have inspected the damaged transmission lines extending from the power houses at Yurembam, Yaingangpokpi and Leimakhong and restoration work started.
Repairing of KV 132 transmission line from Yurembam to Yaingangpokpi as well as that of the KV 33 extending from Yurembam to Mongsangei were completed today itself.
However, repairing work of the KV 132 transmission line from Yaingangpokpi to Kakching would take a couple of days as the damage caused was massive and extensive.
So there would be no power supply in Kakching, Chandel and Moreh areas which used to be fed through this transmission line for atleast some days.
Repairing work of the transmission line of KV 33 from Leimakhong to Iroisemba and the transmission line of KV 132 from Khuman Lampak to Napetpalli which have also suffered damaged, have already been underway.
The transmission like of KV 132 from Yurembam to Ningthoukhong and that of KV 33 from Kakching to Mayang Imphal have bore the brunt of the last night's fury of nature and the repairing work of the same have been started.
While informing that supply of power through the transmission line from Yurembam to Mayang Imphal which is generally known as All India Radio Line would not be possible for the next four days as around 15 electrical posts in between in the two transmission points have been damaged in the storm, the SR Transmission Circle added that normal power sully in most part of Manipur would remain affected for the next two-three days.
