The Kuki Students' Organisation, General Headquarters demands the Tribal Development department to furnish the beneficiary lists, the criteria for selection of beneficiaries and allocation of funds under major heads and a white paper on the status, progress, fund allocation and other matters concerning the unaccomplished and only tribal market at New Lambulane so as 'to allay the fear and suspicion of the 'poor' tribal people'.
The information and publicity secretary of KSO (GHQ), Paotinthang Lupheng stated in a press release that the KSO investigated the fund allocation of crore of rupees sanctioned for the financial year 2007-08 for several financial assistances and schemes meant for the poorest of the poor.
The same system of operation is also taking place for the financial year 2008-09 .
"In this respect, it was found that no official notification for application has been issued.
No beneficiary list has been made public and district wise allocation is made and the general publics market construction are made ignorant about the style and system of functioning in the TD department," Paotin Lupheng stated.
Demanding the TD Department to make public the beneficiary lists, the criteria for selection of beneficiaries and allocation of funds under major heads like Housing Scheme, Agriculture and Horticulture, Animal Husbandry; Financial Assistance in Weaver scheme, medical assistance and water supply schemes, the KSO (GHQ) also demands the department to produce white paper in the unfinished and only tribal market constructed at New Lambulane, Imphal in the interest of the tribal people.
