Imphal, April 08:
The Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts (Thang-ta) and Cultural Society (KIMACS) has appointed its new functionaries for 2007-08.During a function held at royal palace today and presided by titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba, Miten Meetei Konsamcha was elected president.
Hijam Sanahal Mangang and M Dhanachandra were elected vice-presidents while Arambam Tondang Luwang was appointed its general secretary.
Speaking on the oath-taking ceremony, Leishemba Sanajaoba observed that while learning Thang-ta, one should understand the philosophy inherent in the indigenous martial arts form.
Without understanding the inherent philosophy, no Thang-ta artiste would be able to master the martial art.
He also highlighted the strict discipline and mannerisms a Thang-ta artiste should follow in the society.
Conveying deep concern over the decaying discipline among Thang-ta artistes of the State in recent years, Sanajaoba noted the importance of removing disunity, adverse attitude to anything good done by another and the inability to get united.
