In protest against the indifferent attitude of the Government towards the people of Tousem sub-division, the Development Co-ordinating Team (DCT) Federation of Oinamlong Range has called a 48 hour bandh along National Highway 53 with effect from 6 pm tomorrow, reports our corresJiribam pondent.
Announcing this in a statement, Chairman of the Co-ordinating Team P Damuak informed that the decision to call the bandh has been taken in view of the apathetic attitude of the Government towards development of Tousem SubDivision of Tamenglong district despite having submitted memoranda in this connection.
The Khongsang-Tamenglong Road would also come under the purview of the bandh, the statement added.
The demands of the Co-ordinating Committee include, making Oinamlong PHC functional, to evict paramilitary forces from school buildings, Church campus and private houses of Oinamlong, Kaimai, Nungkao and Old Kaiphundai and to implement TPDS scheme.
DCT further warned of imposing economic blockade on both NH 39 and 53 if the Government fails to redress the grievances of the people in this regard at the earliest possible.
