UPF, Manipur inspects District Hospital Bishnupur

In its effort to improve the condition and infrastructure of District Hospital in each district of the State, United People's Front (UPF) Manipur inspected the present arrangement and set-up of the District Hospital Bishnupur during which members of UPF had an interaction with the Medical Superintendent of the hospital and MO in-charge, Ayush Wing regarding the lack of infrastructure and facilities in the hospital and other requirements today.

In the inspection drive today, the members of UPF also found limited number of specialist doctors in the hospital, outdated light system of Operation Theatre compounded by irregular supply of electricity and other needs of the hospital's staff.
Later, while speaking with the media persons, President of UPF, W Second stated that the inspection was conducted with the prime objective to improve the overall functionality of each district hospital in the State with top-most facilities for efficient health services.
He further pointed out about the lack of staff in the hospital which is a major concerned as it is vital to have adequate staff for the efficient functioning of the hospital and health services to the public especially the weaker sections of the society.
"The 50-Bedded hospital is now functioning with only 14 nurses which is not enough for such a hospital to run properly without giving any inconveniences to the public specially in OT and Casualty section.
Lack of Specialist in Radiodiagonistic in the hospital compelled the patients to take the medical test at private clinic at exorbitant rate digging deep in the pocket of the poor family.
Even the 10-Bedded Ayush Department is plagued by lack of space and staff", he maintained.
He further said that the hospital not only attended to large number of patients from Bishnupur district but also deal with unlimited patients from other districts such as Churachandpur, Senapati etc.
As such, the hospital should be upgraded to 100-Bedded hospital to accomodate the huge inflow of patients so that the hospital functions in a proper manner in the interest of the people from economically backward families, he added.
W Second also mentioned about the current inconveniences of the people caused by the lack of proper toilet facility in the hospital and drew the attention of the concerned authority for prompt intervention so that the hospital can function effectively with adequate Specialist doctors, Nurse etc.
MS, District Hospital, Dr Bino Singh also highlighted about the lack of facilities in the hospital and other major problems faced in the functioning of the hospital.
MO in-charge, Ayush Wing, Dr K Sophiya Devi also spoke about lack of rooms and staff.
The inspection team from UPF comprise of its President W Second, Vice President N Rupa Singh, Organisation Asst Secy A Loya, Executive member A Bimol, Auditor N Dinesh and District Presdent UPF Bishnupur N Dinesh.
