With a view to boost the Indo-Myanmar border trade, a Buyers-Sellers Meet would be held at Monywa, Myanmar in the third week of May.
An official in Commerce and Industries Department informed The Sangai Express that the Government of Myanmar has agreed in principle to hold the Buyers and Sellers Meet.
The proposed five-day event would be jointly organised by the Government of Manipur and Government of Myanmar with Commerce and Industries Department and Tamu-Kalewa Chamber of Commerce as co-organisers.
The event would feature an interactive session between Indian experts and their Myanmarese counterparts on bilateral cooperation on such sectors as minerals, forest produces, education, sports, information technology, tourism, health care etc.
The Indian delegations would be take part in a Buyers and Sellers Meet would also include a 25-member cultural troupe.
The cultural troupe would present at least five different cultural shows in Myanmar.
Moreover, cultural exponents of the two countries would hold an interactive session on exchange and sharing of cultural knowledge and ideas.
Among others, handloom and handicraft products of the State would be exhibited at the Buyers and Sellers Meet.
However, it has not been decided yet which indigenous games would be exhibited at the event but a friendly football match would be played between Manipur and Myanmar.
The two countries also discuss about enhancing the border trade and introduction of Letter of Credit for the border trade, added the official.
