Candlelight vigil held for Nepal earthquake victims

A candlelight vigil was today held at the western gate of Kangla to show solidarity to the victims of Nepal earthquake which killed more than 3000 people and injured thousands.
The candlelight vigil was jointly organized by the International Youth Committee, Club 25 International Manipur, Youth Disaster Response Team, Manipur Gorkha Students' Union and other CSOs of the State.
Secretary of Club 25 International Manipur K Karnajit stated that all concerned should help and provide support to the victims of the Nepal earthquake.
He further said that a formal global campaign of Manipur for helping the earthquake victims was launched today by the Chief Secretary of Manipur.
He urged the people of Manipur to give donations in cash or materials.
He added that the Youth Disaster Response Team, Manipur will lead a team of North East people to provide help in Nepal.
As part of the campaign a blood donation camp would also be organized at Kathmandu, he added.
The participants observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect and solidarity to the quake victims.
