Cultural festival for differently abled held

Underlining the need for encouraging persons with disabilities (PWDs) to nurture their talents, a cultural festival for Physically challenged persons was held at Government Deaf and Mute School at Takyel in Imphal West district today.
The festival was organised under the joint aegis of Department of Art and Culture, Govt of Manipur and North East Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur.
Padmashree Laishram Nabakishore and Director of North East Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur Som Kamei, IPS, were respectively chief guest and president of the inaugural function of the festival which was also attended by principal of Govt Deaf Mute School, Takyel H Usharani and Director of Art and Culture, Govt of Manipur Dr K Sobota as guests of honour.
Speaking at the occasion, Nabakishore observed that physically challenged persons need to be treated with love and care.
In his presidential address, Som Kamei said that culture is an integral part of human society.
So, the NEZCC has embarked on a mission to organise cultural festival for physically challenged persons and give exposure of their talent.
