More condemn assault of Moreh woman

The Kuki Women's Organisation for Human Rights (KWOHR) has strongly condemned the alleged molestation and outraging the modesty of one woman from M Chahnou Village, Moreh by personnel of 12 Assam Rifles posted at Khudengthabi on the pretext of frisking and checking on November 18 .
A press release issued by KWOHR said that the victim, who was travelling in an Eeco van driven by one Lhunlun Chongloi (35) of Haijen Veng, Moreh, was checked in a separate chamber by a lady AR personnel.
On the pretext of checking, the lady personnel outraged the modesty of the said woman by inserting a finger in the private part of the victim.
Further claiming that the sexual exploitation didn't end there, it continued that the victim was halted by 4 personnel of Khudengthabi Assam Rifles (2 female and 2 male) in civil dress near the landslide site of Khudengthabi and whisked away at an isolated place.
KWOHR considers the incident as a serious abuse and crime against women, it said appealing the authority concerned to book the involved AR personnel at the earliest.
The matter will be taken to the State and National Women Commission and Human Right Organisations if the demand is not met, it cautioned.
The Churachandpur Joint Women Organization (CJWO) has also strongly condemned the assault of the woman.
She was checked physically in a separate chamber by four personnel including two women personnel, alleged CJWO in a statement and added that she was physically and mentally abused and sexually assaulted.
The victim-survivor was rushed to a nearby hospital in Moreh.
Strongly condemning the incident, CJWO demanded an investigation into the incident and swift action by the State Government.
The said personnel involved must be taken into action, it said and demanded justice for the victim.
