Imphal, November 20 2019:
The All Manipur Muslim Organisations' Co-Ordinating Committee (AMMOCOC) has strongly condemned the act of dragging in the names of MANPAC and COCOMI into the incident concerning the arrest of Manipur Muslim Welfare Organization (MMWO) president Abdullah Phundreimayum by Porompat police.
A statement issued by the spokesperson of AMMOCOC clarified that on November 17, AMMOCOC learned that some workers of MMWO, led by Abdullah Phundreimayum, had allegedly detained and assaulted 7 members of All Manipur Muslim Students' Organisation (AMMSO) .
As such, AMMOCOC informed the police about the same and in the meantime rescued the detained MMWO members.
Abdullah Phundreimayum and some other people were later picked up by police in connection with the case, it claimed.
AMMOCOC further clarified that the incident has no relation whatsoever with COCOMI or MANPAC and appealed to the people to let the law handle the case instead of jumping to conclusions.
