Nemcha Kipgen opens Sakhi-OSC at Kangpokpi

Kangpokpi, November 20 2019:
Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister, Nemcha Kipgen today inaugurated the State's fifteenth and District's first Sakhi 'One-stop Centre' for women who are victims of various kinds of violence at Kangpokpi District Headquarters.
One Stop Centres (OSCs) are being established across the State under the initiative of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, to provide integrated support and assistance under one roof to women affected by violence, both in private and public spaces in phased manner.
The One Stop Centre at Kangpokpi will provide access to integrated range of services under one roof including medical aid, police assistance, legal aid/case management, psychosocial counselling, support services etc to women affected by violence.

The inaugural ceremony was also attended by Lalithambigai Kalidas, DC Kangpokpi, Thangjakam Misao, Vice Chairman ADC Sadar Hills, Hemant Pandey, SP Kangpokpi, Lunseh Kipgen, Chairman KTC, Lalramsang Infimate, Addl DC Kangpokpi and various other District Level Officers of Kangpokpi, local civil bodies including KWWO and KYU.
Addressing the gathering after cutting the ribbon, Nemcha Kipgen said that it (One Stop Centres) is a very important scheme among many others introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi especially for women facing various kind of violence.
The Sakhi - One Stop Centres will offer integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence and facilitates immediate, emergency and non-emergency access to an integrated range of services including medical, legal and psychological and counselling support, the Minister added.
She further said that any aggrieved girl/woman can access the One Stop Centre by herself; with the help of any other person; through the medical facilities and through rescue by police or helpline while appealing the general public to help such women by referring at the One Stop Centres.
Saying that public roles is vital in ensuring smooth and proper functioning of the OSCs in the State, she urged all CSOs and NGOs in the State to render maximum support and assistance for the success of One Stop Centres.
The Minister also appealed to the women of Manipur facing any kinds of violence to approach the One Stop Centres and avail the various facilities provided.
Lalithambigai Kalidas, DC Kangpokpi said that One Stop Centres or Sakhi is basically a centre where all services will be given under one roof for the women affected with violence such as domestic violence, physical assault, sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, trafficking, acid attacks or witch-hunting, etc.
SP Kangpokpi, Hemant Pandey also assured to help the One Stop Centres by deputing one police personal in the rank of ASI as and when required by the centres for security matters.
