Jiribam, November 20 2019:
NH-37 (Jiri-Imphal road) which is an important lifeline of Manipur is filled up with many problems due to traffic jam at Barak Bridge today due to excessive congestion with ever increasing volume of traffic.
The traffic jam was occurred at Barak bridge today due to flow of loaded trucks and passenger vehicles from Jiribam towards Imphal as well as from Imphal side increasing the volume of oil tankers and Bullet truck (Petroleum carrying truck) escorted by CRPF.
As both side vehicles reached at barak bridge at around 12 noon but due to congested stretch of vehicles and narrow lane, the vehicles were not able to pass.

Later, the CRPF personnel reached to the spot and clear the traffic jam and passed the oil tankers and passenger vehicles at around 2 pm .
However, the essential goods laden trucks which have proceeded from Jiribam towards Imphal were also facing many difficulties to cross the Barak Bridge due to its feeble condition.
Report added that around 300 loaded trucks with essential goods were lined up at an stretch of 5 km near the barak bridge.
Owing to overflow of oil tankers on NH-37, the goods laden trucks which have proceeded from Jiribam to Imphal were not able to cross the barak bridge and remained standstill for the last 2-3 days nearby the bridge.
The locals and drivers sought the attention of concerned authority to bring an end of such enormous problems faced by commuters and drivers at the earliest.
