Imphal, February 17 2017:
The Manipur Naga People's Front (MNPF) has lambasted both NSCN-IM and the Naga People's Front (NPF) for allegedly misleading and victimising the Naga people of Manipur.
A statement issued by the outfit's assistant publicity secretary Thomas Numai asserted that NSCN-IM has been interfering in every election since it signed a cease fire pact with the Government of India in 1997 .
Since then, NSCN-IM has been trying to hand pick candidates of their own choice.
In the process, many Naga leaders were killed while many others were tortured physically and mentally.
One major factor for the growing disunity among Naga people is the NSCN-IM's repeated attempts to drive the Naga people on the path chosen by them.
While befooling the Naga people during the past 20 years, many MLAs, ADC Members and MPs chosen by NSCN-IM were elected but these elected representatives did nothing for the Naga people.
They have no task except swindling public funds and dividing the funds amongst themselves.
All the contract and supply works allocated for Naga districts are monopolised by 'Somdal NSCN-IM' and these contract works are given to contractors belonging to Somdal village or close to NSCN-IM.
This time too, 'Somdal NSCN-IM' has dictated all Naga people to support NPF in the ensuing Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
NSCN-IM interfered in every election not in the interest of Naga people of Manipur but in the sole interest of 'Somdal NSCN-IM'.
It further alleged that NPF is a political party which has been treating Naga people as business commodity.
MNPF has no intention to interfere in the ensuing election.
However, if NPF and any candidate backed by NSCN-IM harass or victimise Naga people, MNPF would take up befitting action against the particular political party and the candidates, Thomas Numai said.
If there is any case of booth capturing by NPF, the concerned presiding officer would be held accountable, it added.
