The murder of a local small trader Jotin in Sibilong in Tamenglong district has been denounced and condemned in a mass protest today.
The mass protest demanded the arrest of the culprits who killed Jotin and also demanded reasonable compensation to the bereaved family.
Join Action Committee (JAC) formed against the brutal killing had organized a mass protest in his native place Keinou, Bishenpur district.
The mass protest moved to Keisampat and converged near the Chief Minister's banglow.
Police however stopped the rally at Nupilal Complex and the JAC decided to submit a memorandum to the CM.
While speaking to the media a JAC member said that on July 3 Jotin had left for Guwahati with Rs 1.32 lakhs to procure fertilizers and in his return journey on July 18 he and other passengers were stranded at Sibilong.
At night fall he had ventured out and had an altercation with some local people.
He failed to return and on August 3 his dead body, which was decomposed, was found abandoned in the hilllock at Sibilong.
He declared that befitting punishment to the murderers, and the reasonable compensation to the family of the victim were the main demands of the JAC made to the Chief Minister.
He also said that the JAC may be constrained to intensify its agitation if the government fail to acknowledge the demands.
